Chevron donated $50,000 Monday to the City of Carlsbad for improvements of the Carlsbad Water Park.
The funds will be used to complete etching around the pool area to help prevent falls at the park, said Cary Baird, Chevron field representative.
"This community is very important to Chevron's workforce and to Chevron's future plans. Wherever we work, we really try very hard to make sure that we invest in programs and structures, and education to really benefit the community," Baird said.
The park is undergoing renovation, which included new water slides and a pool expansion.
City Administrator Mike Hernandez said the new additions were suggested by community members, and the renovations are expected to be complete before the park opens Memorial Day weekend.
The water park first opened in 2016.
