4 Permian Basin counties each have 50 drilling rigs or more

The oil and gas industry in the Permian Basin continues to grow as more and more drilling rigs pop up.

According to “Permian Basin Oil and Gas Magazine”, there are four counties within the Permian Basin that each have at least 50 rigs.

The leading county is Reeves with 73 rigs. Midland County comes in second with 52 rigs, which is an increase of two since the previous report.

Lea County in New Mexico is right behind this number with 51 rigs, while Eddy, New Mexico is up two rigs to 50.

Baker Hughes reports that in the Permian Basin there are 480 active rigs, compared to 379 last year. Texas houses 524 rigs total while New Mexico boasts 104 rigs as of this week.

Altogether the United States reportedly has 1,048 rigs, compared to 958 from last year.
